Welcome to IRUPA
 
In April 2011, Omar Hassanein took over as the second CEO of IRUPA. Hailing from Australia, Omar spent 4 years at the Australian Rugby Union Players Association, including a period of 9 months as Acting CEO.   From his experiences, he gained vast knowledge in a number of areas specific to player advocacy and welfare, as well as valuable experience in managing a small sporting organisation. Some of Omar’s key specific skills in this area include the negotiation of key industrial relations documents, the overall management of an Agent Accreditation Scheme, the placement and facilitation of player insurance schemes, and the management of commercial programmes in sport.  
 
Omar has had a long association with the sport of Rugby Union, playing since the age of 9 years in his local junior club competition at Randwick in Sydney.  At senior level, he went on to play professional rugby in Australia, Japan, France and Italy and has built up a strong network of friends and associates worldwide.  His proudest rugby moments include a 1st grade premiership with his beloved Randwick side as well as representing the NSW Waratahs and Australia ‘A’.
 
Omar’s tertiary background includes B. Business – Marketing & International Business, along with postgraduate qualifications in both Finance and Sports Law.
