“Why don’t I get Brian O’Driscoll to join us?” he suggested last Wednesday. We enthusiastically agreed and duly gathered at the Irish Rugby Union Players Association (IRUPA) offices on Lower Leeson Street the following afternoon.

| 06/07/2011 | IRUPA Members Support Bóthar Golf With Stars Golf with Stars (GWS) is a fundraising event which is held annually for the development aid agency, Bóthar. This year Golf with Stars will be taking place in the famed and illustrious surroundings of the K Club Co. Kildare, previous hosts of not just the European Open but also the Ryder Cup.
Golf with Stars gives you (and 2 friends) a chance to tee off with some of Irelands sporting legends and to play on one of the most prestigious golf courses in the World. Amongst those already confirmed to take part include rugby stars Tommy Bowe (Ireland, Ospreys), Tomás O’Leary (Ireland, Munster), Frankie Sheahan (Munster, Ireland), Mick Galway (Munster, Ireland) and Anthony Foley (Munster, Ireland), and 10 times Irish Champion jockey Charlie Swan.

| 27/04/2011 | BIG MAL JOINS IRUPA BORD GÁIS ENERGY HALL OF FAME On Wednesday 4th May at the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Rugby Awards, former Ireland & Lions second row Malcolm O’Kelly will become the 11th player to be inducted into the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame, joining other greats such as Girvan Dempsey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood.

| 20/04/2011 | TOP NAMES IN SHAKE UP FOR BORD GAIS ENERGY PLAYERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR Ireland’s Rugby Players Association IRUPA today announced the nominations for Irish rugby’s ultimate accolade, the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year. The award is one of seven which will be announced at the annual awards on Wednesday 4th May. These are the only awardsvoted for by the players themselves and votes are spread from across all four provinces. |

IRUPA (Irish Rugby Union Players Association) promotes and protects the welfare of professional rugby players by working to safeguard their futures both on and off the pitch, during and after their careers. IRUPA now seeks to appoint a new CEO to take overall responsibility for the direction and leadership of the association. The appointee will assume people, commercial, service, and financial leadership of the association.

| 30/11/2010 | Niall Woods Steps Down as IRUPA CEO Following 8 years at the helm, IRUPA CEO, Niall Woods will be stepping down as Chief Executive of the association in the New Year. He demonstrated an ability to combine visionary, strategic and tactical operational expertise to establish IRUPA from being a dormant association to a respected professional body. He was instrumental in making changes which improved the welfare and working conditions of all professional rugby players in Ireland. |
| 11/10/2010 | IRUPA Members Kearney & Reddan Support Killeen Castle Membership DriveKilleen Castle has launched an Under 30’s membership programme with the help of some top sports stars. Golfing sensations, Lisa & Leona Maguire, who regularly practice on the Jack Nicklaus course and recently competed in the AIB Ladies Irish Open at Killeen Castle, launched the Juvenile Membership category aimed at 12-18 year olds. Alongside the twins, Irish and Leinster rugby stars Rob Kearney and Eoin Reddan pitched in to launch the Under 30’s Membership offer targeting 18 – 30 year olds. Some of the country’s top rugby stars utilise Killeen Castle for some time-out from their busy rugby schedule as part of Killeen Castle’s partnership with IRUPA. |

It was with great sadness that IRUPA learned of the sad passing of rugby legend Moss Keane after a long illness.
IRUPA CEO Niall Woods: “Moss Keane was a legend of Irish rugby and Irish sport. A true character, his performances for club, province and country typified his commitment and ability. His leadership on field not just in rugby but also while playing Gaelic football for his native Kerry were an inspiration for everyone in Irish sport". |
